Serbisyong Trinitarian: HTC Medical Mission!
Holy Trinity College’s commitment to deliver outreach programs and projects in the local community to promote health and wellbeing continues. This year, HTC launched its Medical Mission, successfully held on November 24, 2024, at the HTC Trinidad Complex, effectively bringing essential healthcare services to the local community. The mission was powered by the selfless expertise of volunteer medical professionals, with sincere thanks extended to Dr. Carlo Avenido, MD, and Dr. Ana Albano, MD, for graciously providing consultations and services. The initiative also received strong support from local governance; HTC deeply recognizes the invaluable assistance of the Barangay and Purok Officials of San Isidro for their vital coordination and efforts. Special recognition and congratulations are due to the dedicated HTC team that orchestrated this event: Ms. Gwenn Juanatas, Director of the SOCI Office, and Ms. Novella Lacar, Alumni Coordinator. Their efforts, combined with the tireless commitment of the HTC officials, faculty, and especially our hard-working student volunteers, ensured the mission was a resounding success, embodying the institution’s “GoodHoly” spirit and unwavering dedication to community health and well-being.
This engagement strengthens our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in fostering:
- SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). The activity provided direct, essential health services (consultations) to the local community, aligning with the metric component of running outreach programs and projects in the local community to improve or promote health and wellbeing.
- SDG 1 (No Poverty). By offering vital medical consultations and services, free of charge, the initiative removed a significant financial barrier to health access for low-income residents, supporting the broader goal of the institution’s anti-poverty programs.
- SDG 4 (Quality Education). The mission served as critical experiential learning for student volunteers, faculty, and staff, demonstrating the practical application of knowledge and fulfilling the commitment to Undertake educational outreach activities beyond campus.
- SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The successful execution was a direct result of effective relationships with NGO, Regional and National Government, a cross-sectoral partnership between the educational institution (HTC), private medical professionals, and local government (Barangay/Purok Officials).
