Sexual and Reproductive Health Education on Gender and Society
Sexual and Reproductive Health Education into the General Education Curriculum through Gender and Society Course coupled with Guidance and Testing Center’s programs!
Holy Trinity College strategically ensures that its student body has access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, information, and education, primarily through its integration in the curriculum. This provision is centrally achieved by integrating relevant topics into the General Education program, making it a compulsory component for all college students. Specifically, comprehensive information and educational services about sexual and reproductive health are integrated into the mandated General Education (GE) subject, Gender and Society. This strategic approach ensures widespread, equitable access across the entire student population, addressing critical health and well-being topics such as safe sexual practices, reproductive health, responsible family planning, and gender-related health issues, thus promoting a healthier and more informed student community.
This strongly aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). This provides essential health education services to the entire student body, directly contributing to universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information, and education.
- SDG 5 (Gender Equality). By integrating this education into the Gender and Society curriculum, HTC specifically addresses gender-related health issues and empowers all students with the knowledge necessary for informed decision-making and promoting equality in health outcomes.
- SDG 4 (Quality Education). Making this information a compulsory component of the General Education curriculum ensures that the education provided is holistic, relevant, and accessible to every student, irrespective of their field of study.
