HTC Opens First IZN Festival: SDG Congress 2026
Holy Trinity College of General Santos City officially opened its first-ever IZN Festival: SDG Congress on August 13, 2026, at the Triplex Grounds, in celebration of ASEAN Month 2026.
The program formally began with an opening message from Dr. Marilou E. Albano, Vice-President for Academic Affairs and IZN Festival Chairperson. In her message, Dr. Albano raised awareness among students, faculty, administrators, and staff about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasized their importance and impact on communities.
The program continued with the introduction of plenary speaker Victor Melitante Jr., MSAT, LPT, an alumnus of Holy Trinity College of General Santos City. In his discussion, Melitante encouraged participants to recognize their positionality by understanding their roles, perspectives, and place within the community while continuously learning about sustainable development.
He also emphasized the importance of intentionality in every action and having agency in creating meaningful change. He underscored that even small, purposeful efforts can contribute to sustainable development, noting that these “micro-efforts,” when consistently practiced, can gradually create a significant impact on the community.
The event was organized under the leadership of Atty. Adelin G. Mendoza, IZN Festival Overall Focal Person, and was attended by Dr. Rey T. Albano, School President; Atty. Josemar T. Albano, School Provost; along with school administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
The opening of the IZN Festival marks a significant milestone for HTC as it strengthens its commitment to promoting ASEAN awareness, global citizenship, and sustainable development while encouraging members of the academic community to take purposeful action toward positive change.
