CAS Faculty Strengthen Community Extension Initiatives Through UP Diliman Training
Faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of Holy Trinity College of General Santos City (HTC) enhanced their knowledge and practical competencies in community development through their participation in the Basic Course on Community Organizing, held at the University of the Philippines – Diliman in Quezon City from September 8–10, 2026.
The three-day seminar-workshop was attended by Ma’am Gwenn M. Juanatas, MiSDS, LPT; Ma’am Meljie M. Servito, MEDL, LPT; and Sir Jayrald E. Torrejos, RSW. Their participation reflects the college’s continuing commitment to faculty development and to strengthening community engagement through informed, participatory, and inclusive approaches.
The training aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge, skills, and strategies in community organizing. Through this learning opportunity, the faculty members gained insights that can help them better understand community needs, encourage stakeholder participation, and support collaborative initiatives that respond to local concerns.
The knowledge and competencies acquired are expected to contribute to the continued development of HTC’s Community Extension Program, enabling the institution to strengthen its partnerships with communities and implement initiatives that promote meaningful participation and sustainable development.
Holy Trinity College recognizes community extension as an important component of its educational mission, connecting academic knowledge with practical service. By investing in the professional growth of its faculty, the institution continues to empower its educators to become more effective partners in community development and social transformation.
