Pasko ng Pagbibigayan: HTC Brings Disaster Preparedness and Holiday Assistance to Changco Elementary School

Holy Trinity College of General Santos City (HTC) extended its spirit of service beyond campus through a Christmas community outreach program held on December 12, 2023, at Changco Elementary School in Purok Changco, Barangay Bawing, General Santos City. Initiated by Elementary Social Orientation and Community Involvement (SOCI) Coordinator Reynold M. Octavio Jr., LPT, the activity combined disaster preparedness education with the distribution of essential goods to learners and families.

The program began with a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) seminar facilitated by Dennielle Mae Caceres, LPT, and attended by Grade 6 pupils. The session emphasized earthquake preparedness, including the importance of the “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” procedure, early warning systems, evacuation protocols, and effective communication during emergencies. Through this educational outreach, HTC helped equip young learners with practical knowledge to respond more safely to potential disasters.

Following the seminar, health kits, school supplies, and grocery packages donated by HTC elementary pupils were distributed to members of the school community. The initiative provided essential assistance to families while encouraging generosity, compassion, and active participation in community service.

Changco Elementary School Head Reagan P. Paraguas expressed gratitude for HTC’s continued support, while recipient Marilyn Madam Magan shared how the assistance helped her family meet their needs. The activity demonstrated how educational outreach and charitable efforts can work together to strengthen community preparedness and support families in need.

Through its “Pasko ng Trinitarian, Pasko ng Pagbibigayan” initiative, HTC reaffirmed its commitment to extending meaningful learning opportunities and community assistance beyond its campus. By integrating disaster preparedness education with acts of generosity, the College continues to promote responsible citizenship, community resilience, and the spirit of giving.
