HTC and CARK Energy Partner for Campus-Wide Solar Power Initiative

Holy Trinity College of General Santos City (HTC) took another significant step toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future as it formally entered into a partnership with CARK Energy through a Partnership and Contract Signing Ceremony held on August 17, 2026, at the HTC Accreditation Room.

The ceremony marked the signing of a contract for the installation of solar power systems in all buildings of Holy Trinity College, strengthening the institution’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development.

The initiative comes at a meaningful time as HTC recently opened its first IZN Festival, which highlights the institution’s growing commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The transition toward solar energy serves as another concrete step in turning these sustainability commitments into action.

The project directly supports SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, by promoting the use of renewable solar energy, as well as SDG 4: Quality Education, by helping create a sustainable learning environment where students can witness and experience responsible environmental practices. It also contributes to SDG 13: Climate Action through the adoption of cleaner energy solutions. In addition, the initiative may support SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through innovation, sustainable infrastructure, responsible resource use, and institutional collaboration.

Opening the ceremony, School President Dr. Rey T. Albano expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended and witnessed the historic development. In his opening remarks, he shared insights and wisdom on the importance of the initiative and the role of the HTC community in advancing sustainable practices.

The event was witnessed by HTC administrators, deans, staff, and the Supreme Student Council (SSC) President, reflecting the collective support of the institution’s leadership, faculty, personnel, and student body for the project.

Adding historical significance to the occasion, Atty. Josemar T. Albano, School Provost, shared that 15 years ago, Holy Trinity College was already the first school in General Santos City to embrace solar power. The renewed partnership with CARK Energy therefore builds upon HTC’s long-standing efforts to explore renewable energy and reinforces its position as an institution willing to innovate for a more sustainable future.

Atty. Albano also captured the practical impact of the initiative with a memorable line:

“The sun is out, the electricity bill is down.”

The statement reflects both the environmental and economic potential of shifting toward solar energy, as the institution seeks to maximize the benefits of renewable power while reducing its dependence on conventional electricity sources.

HTC also extends its appreciation to Brigada News GenSan for covering the Partnership and Contract Signing Ceremony and helping bring this important institutional development to the wider community.

As Holy Trinity College continues its Heart Through Change: Building Resilient Futures journey, the partnership with CARK Energy represents more than an infrastructure project. It is a commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and collective action—demonstrating that meaningful change begins when institutions turn their sustainability goals into concrete initiatives.

With solar power set to reach all HTC buildings, the institution moves forward with a brighter vision: harnessing the power of the sun today to build a cleaner, more resilient, and sustainable tomorrow.
