“Once a Trinitarian always a Wildcat
and once a Wildcat forever a Trinitarian!”
HISTORY AND OVERVIEW
The offering of the collegiate programs in School Year 1989-1990, with the AB Program as one of the original baccalaureate degrees having been offered. Originally, the Liberal Arts Department under which the AB Program was administered, was part of the Education Department, whose supervision was under a Department Head. Initially three majors were offered under the AB Program, namely Political Science, English and Community Development.
Later, the Liberal Arts and Department was renamed as the College of Humanities and Social Sciences as it became independent and separated from the College of Teacher Education.
In 2006, the AB Program was granted with Application Status by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU-AAI). Two years after, the department was granted with Level I accredited status. In 2009, the department was renamed to College of Arts and Sciences. In 2011, the AB Program was granted Level II accreditation. On the same year, a new field of specialization was offered, the Bachelor of Arts in Communication, adding to its line-up of majors.
At present, the four majors under the AB Program have continued to undergo quality assurance initiatives under the deanship of Dr. Marilou E. Albano whose appointment took effect on December 16, 2016. It’s in her time in June 2017 that the department launched its branding, the IamCAS. The department brand is anchored in the TRINITARIAN values of the Holy Trinity College. With this brand, the department is devoted to communicating what is distinct about its service, experience and focus that makes up its brand promise.
ADMINISTRATION
The College is led by the Dean. The Dean’s Office serves as the central coordinating and supervisory unit for the academic, research, and service activities of the four programs. The College Dean also acts as a source of information for students in regard to their academic programs; contact with faculty members; registration; advisement; problem-solving; information on student clubs; opportunities for internships, scholarships, and special summer activities; and other student- related activities.
The Dean’s Office is supported by the Department Coordinator who provides functional and coordinating support for each program in collaboration with the faculty members.
College of Arts and Sciences aims to prepare students to be globally competitive. Specifically, it seeks to:
- Substantiate knowledge and learning experiences through a cluster of courses towards the integral development of the person.
- Train students to be competent in their chosen field of specialization as a preparation for their employment and training beyond baccalaureate degree.
- Enhance research, leadership, and interpersonal skills through field-based experiences.
- Prepare students to become responsible members of the society.
